What Is Vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin essential for energy production, red blood cell formation, nerve function, and DNA synthesis. Supplemental Vitamin B12 is commonly used to support energy levels, metabolic health, neurological function, and overall wellness.
How It Works:
Vitamin B12 supports the conversion of food into usable energy by assisting in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. It plays a critical role in maintaining healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and supports normal neurological function. Benefits develop with consistent use.
Expected Benefits:
Patients may experience improved energy levels, reduced fatigue, enhanced mental clarity, improved mood, and support for metabolic and nervous system function. Benefits are cumulative and vary by individual.
When to Use:
Vitamin B12 is administered as a subcutaneous injection according to the dosing schedule provided by your medical provider. Timing and frequency are individualized based on treatment goals and clinical guidance.
Possible Side Effects:
Common side effects may include mild injection site redness or irritation, headache, nausea, diarrhea, or flushing. Less common side effects may include anxiety, acne-like skin eruptions, dizziness, or palpitations. Vitamin B12 is generally well tolerated when used as prescribed, and excess amounts are typically excreted by the body.
Contact Your Provider If You Experience:
Persistent or worsening side effects, new or unusual neurological symptoms, palpitations, chest discomfort, significant anxiety, rash, swelling, or any reaction that feels unusual or concerning. Seek immediate medical attention for signs of a severe allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing.
Who Should Not Use:
Suite Skin will not prescribe Vitamin B12 to patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to Vitamin B12 or its components, or have medical conditions that require provider clearance prior to supplementation. You must notify our medical team if you have, develop, or suspect any contraindicated condition at any time during treatment.
Treatment Expectations:
Vitamin B12 is not an instant treatment. Improvements in energy and mental clarity may develop over time with consistent use. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
Patient Responsibility:
Use Vitamin B12 only as prescribed. Do not change dosing or frequency without provider approval. Inform your provider of all medications and supplements you are taking. Store medication properly. Attend required follow-up appointments and report side effects or concerns promptly.
