What Is Biotin?
Biotin is a water-soluble B-vitamin (Vitamin B7) that plays an essential role in energy metabolism, fatty acid synthesis, and the maintenance of healthy hair, skin, and nails. Supplemental Biotin is commonly used to support overall wellness and cosmetic health.
How It Works:
Biotin supports enzymatic processes involved in converting carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into usable energy. It also contributes to keratin production, which is important for hair, skin, and nail structure. Benefits develop gradually with consistent use.
Expected Benefits:
Patients may experience improved hair strength and thickness, stronger nails, improved skin quality, and support for energy metabolism. Benefits are cumulative and vary by individual.
When to Use:
Biotin is administered as a subcutaneous injection according to the dosing schedule provided by your medical provider. Timing and frequency are individualized based on treatment goals and clinical guidance.
Possible Side Effects:
Common side effects may include mild injection site redness or irritation, nausea, headache, or gastrointestinal discomfort. Less common side effects may include acne-like skin eruptions, changes in appetite, or mild dizziness. Biotin is generally well tolerated when used as prescribed.
Contact Your Provider If You Experience:
Persistent or worsening side effects, significant skin reactions, severe gastrointestinal symptoms, or any symptoms that feel unusual or concerning. Patients should also notify their provider if they are scheduled for laboratory testing, as Biotin may interfere with certain blood test results.
Who Should Not Use:
Suite Skin will not prescribe Biotin to patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to Biotin or its components, or have medical conditions that require provider clearance prior to supplementation. You must notify our medical team if you have, develop, or suspect any contraindicated condition at any time during treatment.
Treatment Expectations:
Biotin is not an instant treatment. Improvements in hair, skin, and nails typically develop gradually over weeks to months with consistent use. Results vary.
Patient Responsibility:
Use Biotin only as prescribed. Do not change dosing or frequency without provider approval. Inform all healthcare providers of Biotin use, particularly before laboratory testing. Store medication properly. Attend required follow-up appointments and report side effects promptly.
Questions: Contact your provider with any questions or concerns regarding your treatment.
