POST-TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Treatment for Suspected Vascular Occlusion

🚨 EMERGENCY: Call 911 immediately for vision changes or severe symptoms

​

⚠️ This treatment was performed to restore blood flow and protect the skin. Close monitoring is critical.

​

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness are expected
• The area may feel sore or tight
• Skin color and warmth should gradually improve
• Multiple treatments may be required within the next 24–72 hours

​

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

• Remain reachable and available for the next 72 hours
• Do not travel for 72 hours
• Avoid strenuous activity until cleared by your provider
• Avoid heat exposure (sauna, steam room, hot tubs)
• Do NOT apply ice unless specifically instructed
• Warm compresses may be recommended — follow instructions exactly
• Do NOT massage the area unless directed

MONITOR CLOSELY & CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY IF YOU NOTICE:

• Increasing or severe pain
• Pale, white, gray, or dark discoloration of the skin
• Skin that feels cool to the touch
• Worsening swelling, blistering, or skin changes
• Skin remaining pale after pressing (delayed capillary refill)

🚨 CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

• Vision changes
• Eye pain
• Blurred or double vision
• Partial or complete vision loss

• Trouble breathing, swallowing, shortness of breath
• Severe headache following treatment

FOLLOW-UP

• You may be asked to send photos of the treated area within 24 hours
• Same-day or next-day follow-up may be required

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Mild to moderate swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising is normal

• Swelling may temporarily appear worse before improving

• Results may begin within hours and continue to improve over 24–72 hours

• More than one treatment session may be required for full correction

 

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

• Do not touch or massage the treated area unless instructed

• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours

• Avoid excessive heat for 24 hours (sauna, steam room, hot tubs)

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours

• Keep the area clean and makeup-free for at least 12 hours

• A cool compress may be used for comfort if needed

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Hylenex dissolves hyaluronic acid filler and may affect both intended and unintended filler

• Additional treatments may be necessary

• Final cosmetic results may take several days

 

CONTACT OUR OFFICE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

• Increasing swelling beyond expected

• Rash, hives, itching, or signs of allergic reaction

• Worsening pain or redness

• Any symptoms that concern you
