Pre- and Post-Treatment Instructions

🚨 Emergency: Call 911 for severe reactions, fainting that does not resolve, or difficulty breathing

 

 

BEFORE YOUR PRP APPOINTMENT (PRE-TREATMENT)

To help ensure optimal results and a smooth procedure:

• Stay well-hydrated for 24–48 hours prior to your appointment

• Eat a light meal the day of treatment

• Avoid NSAIDs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen, naproxen) for 5–7 days prior unless prescribed

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior

• Continue prescribed medications unless directed otherwise by your provider

• Arrive with clean skin or scalp (no makeup, lotions, or hair products)

• Inform your provider if you feel unwell, dizzy, or dehydrated on the day of treatment

 

AFTER YOUR PRP APPOINTMENT (POST-TREATMENT)

What to Expect

• Mild to moderate swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising is normal

• Injection sites may feel sore or tight

• Results develop gradually over several weeks

• Multiple treatments may be recommended for best results

 

Aftercare Instructions

• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours

• Avoid excessive heat for 24–48 hours (sauna, steam room, hot tubs)

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours

• Avoid NSAIDs for 5–7 days after treatment (Tylenol is permitted if needed)

• Keep the treated area clean

• Avoid makeup or hair products for 24 hours

• Do not massage or manipulate the area unless instructed

 

When to Contact Our Office

Please contact us immediately if you experience:

• Increasing pain or swelling

• Signs of infection (worsening redness, warmth, drainage, fever)

• Persistent dizziness or fainting

• Any symptoms that concern you
